BEHIND THE LENS
Photographer/director, Michael-Antonio Hunter, is best known for his high-impact, colorful fashion and surreal images as well as his glossy and digital fashion editorials and spreads. He has worked with and photographed for some of the most influential, up-and-coming magazines, models, make-up artist and stylist as well as a few of their established colleagues including (but not limited to) rapper and model - Lola Monroe, America's Next Top Model winner and actress - Eva Pigford , celebrity designer - Stevie Boi and America's Next Top Model winner - Naima Mora, magazines such as Staff and Crew, Fifty6, Modobook, Luxerepublic, MetroVogue and JAJADO, campaigns for Stevie Boi, Kennard Lilly, GiGi Barnett Couture and test for represetatives of both Sephora and M.A.C cosmetics.
His Imagery and photography have been described as "breathtaking, a magnificent portrayal of a young artists' vision. And with no formal training, his talents are all natural - a true testament to sheer genetics"(Luxerepublic).
Prior, Michael was efficient in sketch artistry, painting and cartooning when he randomly slipped into photography in 2005 at the request of one of his close friends; it was a effortless and comfortable achievement and since then he has been commissioned for projects from models and fashion houses from all-around.
Multi-ethnic Michael Antonio Hunter was born in New York and began dancing at 5, spent his teens studying at National Blue Ribbon Institution: Baltimore City College High School and his college years in Frostburg State
University. He was the recipient of many dance awards in his younger years and received accolades for his work as an actor, assistant director and writer for independent film, "The Boyz." Additionally he was a recording artist under the stage name "Mike Dareh" where he wrote and co-produced all of his music. Though he still acts and sings, in 2006 Michael decided to focus on his photography career.
Fluently mixing and amalgamating his love and admiration for capturing moments of pure idiom, enhancing the beauty of everyone of his subjects while keeping to their individual style and natural appeal, Michael-Antonio's work has come to define that of a new age epic.
